 In
1982, he began working at Yamaha Corporation, at which
he was involved in the research and development of
brass instruments for 18 years, through 1999. As chief
designer at Yamaha, he participated in the development
of more than 70 projects of all kinds of brass instruments
and accessories. Mr.Hamanaga's inventions have resulted
in 6 patents in Japan, as well as 11 patents abroad.
These patents have each advanced the tradition of
brass instruments and their manufacture through the
application of new technologies.
Typical of his inventions are the first use of CNC
processing in the development of his II series mouthpieces,
as well as horn lines including the triple horn which
utilized his Dual Plane Valve. He also invented the
revolutionary and worldwide best-selling practice
mute system, the Silent Brass.
In 1999, he founded his own firm, and called it BEST BRASS Corporation.
Here, he can continue his work and nurture his passion for inventing, continually developing pioneering brass instruments and accessories.
His life's work is the evolution of brass instruments, and the advancement of music.

 In
the accessories of music instrument, there is some
accessory called Mute in general. Essentially mute
means in English "making no sound, weaken a sound"
but in music world it means "a pad, clip, or other
device used to reduce or alter in some way the tone
of a brass or stringed instrument"
But there are two mean of mute for music instrument
that one is a purpose to reduce the note and the
other is to change the tone. Both mute are called
same mute but different purpose.
So I consider about this matter deeply.
The both meaning of mute is to "transform" the "sound"
even for reduce the note or change the tone. So
our "Sound Transformer" has infinitely possibilities
to the future for music instrument accessories.

as type II.

you want with our e-Sax. The complete portable
and soundproof system e-Sax is the most innovative

can put your saxophone into e-Sax body simply

(approx -25dB) with adopting acoustic whisper
system from the earphones or without earphone

You don't need to search for a special practice
room anymore. Created by designer Shinji Hamanaga,
e-Sax has none of that stuffy restricted feeling
of conventional practice whisper system. It

you simply won't believe it until you actually
experience it for yourself. Play high or low,
loud or soft, and your pitch will remain true
and centered. A special microphone inside
the mute relays your sound to e-Sax even your

this new type II, we have developed the part
of neck holding stand and bottom pad more
safety and strong to support the saxophone
inside. And also we designed body shell to
pronounce easily in low register.
Also we adopted the hand packing rubber from
very popular e-Sax for tenor saxophone so
that you both hands moves freely and improved
the flexibleness.
The new invention is a metronome function
with light emitting diode so you can check
the speed of playing by your eyes. And a volume
knob and an echo switch with 3 modes are added.
The player can play along with their favorite
song in practice and performance settings
and put the fun back in their practice sessions.

sponge for the part you put your hand in so
your both hand can move more flexibility and

3 different materials Aluminum / Copper / Brass
 We
adopted 3 different materials "aluminum" "copper" "brass"
for trumpet Wah Wah & Cool Jazz. Each warm-up mute has
each own sound by metal specialty. The material of inner
head of BEST BRASS STF Wah Wah & Cool Jazz is used all
copper and inner pipe made of brass is soldered carefully.
Developed non-transposing gestopft mute for horn first in the world !
Gestopft play style is the closing bell part by putting right hand in, and to
play metal sound style. But it is very difficult playing method and technique
for amateur horn player. That's why we have developed Gestopft mute for all
players.
Current Gestopft mute needed the transposing and had other problems to play. Our new developed non-transposing Gestopft mute solved all problems simply for all horn players. With this mute, everybody can play horns as usual fingering and play in metallic gestopft sound simply.
STF straight adopted aluminum/copper/brass for the materials. Each physical property of metal has different sound itself.

New invention Hamanaga valve

New developed valve system
 None
had succeeded the improvement for former traditional valve
system which is un-even and air meanders, also contiguities
3 pipes nearly. So we had started the developing of new
valve system to clear these problems with an original technique
of sound design which none did not succeed.
And we have succeed to develop the new epoch making system
for piston valve which has a structure that a section of
pipe is true circle (there's a no meanders) and obtains
a smooth air stream inside the valve comparing a former
traditional valves. Furthermore, this new valve system also
has a new structure which connects a casing, so a rigidity
of valve has been dynamically increased.
When a brass instrument generates the sound, the air enhanced
the sound with vibration inside the conduit vibrate. A player
can not feel the full sound from his trumpet if a music
instrument is not steady body and also the instrument does
not vibrate in acoustic standing wave. The instrument having
a body of conduit receives the influencing of this acoustic
standing wave inside the bore and causes a complex vibration
inside. Oppositely, the metallic vibration influences the
standing wave in the bore inside the body part, and causes
the decrease of sound efficiency called interference. Therefore
the low case rigidity instrument loses the sound energy
and can not obtain a rich and steady sound.
In this respect, the new piston valve which BEST BRASS
succeeded in development is an epoch-making invention having
the rigidity. And the loss of sound energy is a very small.

Also adopting with 2 sound slit improves easy to blow and
best balance with normal trumpet.
